An Overview Of The College |
Shelfield Sports & Community College is an over subscribed eleven to eighteen mixed Comprehensive School which was designated a Specialist Sports College in July 2002.
The popularity of the College is based on the continued improvement in the standards of achievement and attainment.
This was recognised in our recent OFSTED inspection when, in the verbal feedback, HMI commented that...
"This school is well on its way to being outstanding".

Whilst the College is looking to, and planning for the future, it is important to take a moment to look to the past. Shelfield Sports and Community College has recently celebrated its 75th Anniversary and an overview of these 75 years is presented below.
The College opened originally as Shelfield Senior Mixed on November 3rd 1932 in Coalheath Lane, Shelfield under the Headship of Mr Arthur C.Scott. The building survived the war with just one incendiary strike. Ex pupils remember the drills of putting on gas masks and filing into the shelter of the basement boiler house. |
