Which languages will we study at Shelfield?
French and Spanish

When will we study them?
In Year 7 we will study either French or Spanish.
In Year 8 we will continue to study the language we were studying.
In Year 9 we will study both French or Spanish.
In Year 10, we can choose either or both languages to GCSE.
In Year 11, we will continue to study our chosen language at GCSE.

Why learn a language?

• It’s fun.
• It’s useful when we go on holiday.
• It will help you get a job.
• It helps you understand about other countries and different customs.

How will we learn the language?

• You will listen to the language.
• You will speak the language.
• You will read the language.
• You will write the language.
• You will play games in the language.
• You will work on the computers in the language.

Will I get the opportunity to go to France or Spain with Shelfield? YES!!!!!!

The language department LOVES going abroad!!!
During the Academic Year 2005/06 we went to:

• Spain during the October half term
• Went to the Christmas markets in France
• Went to the Ch â teau de Broutel in June
• And spent 4 days in Paris during activities week
