KS3
At KS3 students work in mixed ability groups spending 8 to 10 weeks in a range of material areas including; food, graphic products, resistant materials and textiles and CAD CAM.
CAD CAM is now an essential element in all areas of technology and students will need to
demonstrate its use within their projects. We have many new pieces of equipment to enable the students to produce professional quality elements of their designs.
KS4
In Year 10 students have the opportunity to specialise in one material area for a GCSE
qualification. Coursework forms 60% of their grade. This includes a design folio of work and a practical outcome. The remaining 40% comes from a final examination.
At least 1 hour of homework per week will be set, which may include research, drawing, and reading as well as written work. It is essential that this work is completed as it complements class work and reinforces understanding.
KS5
Many students stay on into the sixth form and choose to continue with their design
education. We have a specialist design studio exclusively for their use, both during lessons and in their non-contact time.
We currently offer; Product Design which combines the skills from resistant materials and graphics, Textiles and Food Technology to A level. |
