On-Line Author Project (Using genre fiction and visual literacy to develop children’s writing skills)
This unit of work is mainly based on the Year Six, term two and three objectives relating to extended story writing. Children work alongside a visiting author to create their own on-line story.
The children will take part in readings from Stephen Bowkett’s own collections and play interactive writing games with the author to begin the program of work. Children will then continue to complete a twenty hour project using ICT and visual literacy based activities. At a mid- point in the project the author will re-visit the children to critique their work and give further encouragement and inspiration.
At the end of the project children will have created their own story and posted it on-line. The author and other children involved in the project will be able to critique the work on-line.
